When I was in Tenerife in January 2025 I was having a chat to a well known local musician (and I guy I really rate), Mr Brian Wilson about the difficulties of being able to go there to work, post Brexit. (Thanks you bunch of brainless bastards who landed us here). He in turn, put me onto another local music maestro, Mr Jack Bennett, who put me onto a Spanish regulation, with the rather sexy title of “Order PCM/1238/2021 of November 20, 2021“. Sounds a bit boring, but actually, it isn’t. Basically it allows musicians and other people in the audio/visual sector to work in Spain for UP TO 90 DAYS VISA FREE. If you want to see details, you can Google it and it will take you to various websites, but most importantly a Spanish Government website which confirms this to be the case. I also subsequently emailed the Spanish Consulate in Edinburgh, who replied that this was indeed the case and the regulation does exactly what it says on the tin. You just need to get yourself an NIE number (google that too !) before engaging in any work.
With that in mind, I’m pretty excited to say that I now have an NIE number, I have accommodation booked for 12 weeks in early 2026 (from Jan 7th), flights are booked and my lake placid blue telecaster is also booked to go with me. I’m going to go and try my luck banging on pub doors and try and get some gigs and really just have some fun with it before I’m too old and decrepit.
If you happen to own a pub in Los Cristianos or Las Americas , see below !
